
Feb 6 SID India Hosts Industry Round Table with Dr John Kymssis, President, Society of Information Display (SID), USA
SID India was enabled in September 2024 to help enable the Indian Display ecosystem. In the recent years, Government of India has shown tremendous will to bring nanotech industries to India and there have been significant breakthroughs in solar, semiconductor and end electronic manufacturing sector. Display – with its huge foreign exchange impact on the import bills, and domestic demand – is an inevitable opportunity for India.
To capture the industry voices on key issues and enablers for the display sector, SID India hosted an industry roundtable on February 6th at Le Meridien Hotel in New Delhi. The meeting was presided by Dr John Kymissis, President, Society for Information Display (SID), USA and attended by SID India founding members including Applied Materials, Sharp, Samsung and Eink.

Objectives of the Round Table
- The event dissected the key trends in the global display industry covering diverse views and perspectives on future technologies like Micro LEDs, mainstream LCD and OLED technologies and Quantum Dots and their evolution in mainstream TVs. Contextual emerging segments in Automotive, AR/VR and niche def tech were also covered by the global speakers. Dr Vignesh S , Eink presented the opportunity of low power electrophoretic displays. Dr John Kymissis presented the SID role in enabling the display ecosystem over 60+years of the evolution of the industry.

- Dr Manish Hooda presented the government perspective -and highlighted that new version of India Semiconductor Mission with the refreshed budgets would likely be announced later this year.
