In the clash between the human need for maximising benefits vs and maximizing self-esteem, the tendency to dilute the internal metrics of ethics to benefit ourselves is a common game that we indulge ourselves in. From the accounting malpractises of Satyam, the GAAP violations that compromised the HP’s channel equity to numerous ethical debacles  – the weakness of the human mind to fall into an ethical blind-spot comes out repeatedly.
